Bentley Continental GT Mulliner Convertible Takes Special To A New Level

As if the standard car wasn't nice enough.

The Bentley Continental GT Convertible is a very special vehicle. Yet, as we've seen a lot lately, exotic automakers thrive on releasing new and improved special edition models to help keep up demand. The latest of these special editions, the Continental GT Mulliner Convertible, has just been revealed and Bentley is calling it "the luxury pinnacle of the Continental GT family." High praise indeed.

Mulliner is Bentley's bespoke commissioning division, so you know this new car will be filled to the brim with special touches. Bentley says the Continental GT Mulliner Convertible is for customers who want an even greater focus on details like the new Double Diamond front grille and bespoke Mulliner branded side vents that both feed into the car's silver-on-black diamond theme. The car also rides on new 22-inch, 10-spoke painted and polished wheels with floating, self-leveling wheel badges.

Bentley says the theme was inspired by the Continental GT's Diamond-in-Diamond interior quilting, which requires nearly 400,000 stitches. Buyers can select from eight custom-made three-color combinations that all include a Mulliner embroidery.

Complementing the expensive leather is a diamond milled technical finish on the center console and a brushed silver Breitling timepiece set. This is all topped off by mood lighting with seven different themes, illuminated Mulliner tread plates, and LED welcome lamps.

Buyers will have a choice of either the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 542 horsepower or the 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 with 626 hp. The former gets the car up to 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds while the W12 needs just 3.7 seconds. Anyone who buys the Mulliner version will receive a leather key in a Mulliner-branded, handcrafted presentation box, which matches the interior configuration of the car. Buyers will have a choice of 61 different exterior colors but if none of those are satisfactory, Bentley says its artisan paint specialists will color-match any item or sample.

The Bentley Continental GT Mulliner Convertible will make its global debut at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show on March 3, 2020.
