Bentley Launches App To Allow You To Drive A Flying Spur Anywhere

/ Comments

Waste your time in sophisticated European style.

Augmented reality (AR) is an important developing technology, and will evolve to benefit everything from the military to education and healthcare. Our inner children have been playing with the Dinosaurs Everywhere app, but now we have something better to toy with in the form of the Bentley AR Visualiser.

It's available from Bentley now via the Apple App Store and Google's Play Store, and allows you to drive a Bentley Flying Spur anywhere you choose. You can take it on a first-person view test drive, see what it looks like parked in your garage, or even shrink and park one in your living room and get a birds-eye view as you cruise it around the coffee table.

Deliveries of the new Bentley Flying Spur won't be starting until next year, so this a great way to check one out before they appear on the roads. Bentley's app allows the user to visualize the exterior and interior in two different trim levels: Luxury and Performance. In Luxury spec, the Flying Spur has an interior finished in Brunel and Linen leather with Meteor paint on the outside. Performance spec features Beluga leather accented by Hotspur stitching for the interior and Extreme Silver paint on the exterior.

Both versions show off the Mulliner Driving Specification option, rear-seat entertainment, the Bentley Rotating Display, as well as the new Flying B mascot. The Performance model also shows of Bentley's new Blackline specification.

According to Bentley, the app is among the industry's most advanced in terms of AR technology. It certainly is intensive on the phone's hardware, and we recommend making sure it's charged before starting to play. Hopefully, AR is something Bentley is also experimenting with for actual cars, as what we've seen other automakers already experimenting with looks amazing. We just hope nobody ports Pokemon Go into their infotainment system.
