Bentley May Have Just Chosen The Worst Name Ever For Its New Sports Trim

Unless you imagine whales to be athletic and sporty.

Bentley has just announced a new sport trim exclusively for the V8 Flying Spur called the Beluga Specification. In Bentley’s words the new trim is meant to give the four-door a “more athletic stance and purposeful visual appeal.” That sounds good, but Beluga is the name of a whale, a creature not exactly known for being athletic or sporty. Confusing names aside the package itself is nice but not exactly game-changing.

It features exclusive 20” alloy wheels dubbed Black and Bright that match the color of the grille’s mesh and a bar placed on the lower grille that matches the body color. Should you opt for the Mulliner Driving Specification, in addition to the Beluga, you'll get more exclusive goodies. These include 21" wheels named Extrovert and interior accouterments such as a curled gear lever and indented hide headlining. The rich who order the new Flying Spur trim likely won't care what it's called, but this could still go down as one of the auto world's dicier naming choices.
