Bentley has some incredible plans for the next Continental GT, which includes the luxury vehicle getting a hybrid powertrain. According to a report from Autocar, the Bentley Bentayga won't be the only plug-in hybrid model in the British automaker's lineup. While the next-generation of the Continental will be based on a new platform, referred to as MSB and co-developed with Porsche, the automaker is looking to an unlikely source for a hybrid powertrain-the Porsche Cayenne plug-in hybrid.

According to Autocar, the Continental hybrid will utilize the V6 plug-in hybrid setup from the Cayenne that produces 410 horsepower. Future soccer players and celebrities need not worry as the Continental will also be offered with a range of other motors. Autocar believes that the range-topping Continental will feature a 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 from the Bentayga that should make around 600 hp, while the entry level model will be powered by an updated twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine. From the look of the rest of the lineup, the plug-in hybrid will fit right in. Not to mention, a plug-in hybrid will make it look like the Volkswagen Group is attempting to make more fuel-efficient vehicles.
