Bentley has announced a recruitment drive to fill 200 new positions as part of its greater Beyond 100 strategy, which the marque claims is the "boldest plan of its kind in the sector." The hiring spree aims to further support the Five-in-Five plan that commits Bentley to launch five new electric models by 2030. Becoming a sustainable vehicle manufacturer is not easy, but Bentley is determined to make it happen.

The new roles will all be based at the automaker's Crewe, UK headquarters, where all five of these EVs will be designed and developed.

Over half of the new positions are focused on engineering, specifically in software, electrical systems, and UX/UI development. Other jobs include project managers and buyers. These are hybrid roles, meaning these future employees can have a combination of onsite and remote working. As part of this, the company has moved to so-called "hot desks," aka no individual offices.

This not only saves space but also encourages greater teamwork and discussion.

"Bentley is in the middle of the most significant transformative phase in the company's long and illustrious history," said Dr. Matthias Rabe, Bentley's board member for Research and Development. "Extraordinary products have always been at the heart of our business, however, tomorrow's engineers face the most exciting challenges in a generation as we become an exclusively electric car business. We are looking for true innovators, who can create the new future of automotive, support our product ambitions and shape our Beyond100 vision as we aim for leadership within sustainable luxury mobility."

Anyone interested in applying for these positions is encouraged to check out Bentley's official careers website. As for the EVs, expect the first one to arrive in 2025 and, chances are, it will be an SUV. This should not come as a surprise considering the Bentayga remains the brand's best-selling model. A high-riding sedan underpinned by an Audi-developed EV platform was rumored to be in development back in 2020, but we doubt it will arrive before the fully electric SUV.

What Bentley has consistently promised is that its future EVs will have rapid acceleration. Think of a 0 to 60 mph time in as little as 1.5 seconds. Bentley is investing £2.5 billion to transform its entire product portfolio into not only EVs but also to make its Crewe facility into a world-class sustainable "Dream Factory."

All that's left is to fix the EV sound issue Dr. Rabe once highlighted to CarBuzz, and Bentley's EV future could be exciting.
