McLaren has unveiled a new bespoke version of the mighty P1 GTR created by McLaren Special Operations that pays tribute to the legendary Ayrton Senna. Designed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the racing driver's first F1 title, the car was commissioned by a McLaren collector who has been a fan of Senna since a young age. They worked with MSO to create a striking livery featuring the iconic colors of then-sponsor Marlboro as they appeared on Senna's MP/4 F1 car.

Other unique details include the Senna Brand Trademark on the front splitter as well as in front of the air intake and each door. The 'Senna' script and 'Driven to Perfection' slogan can also be found on the doors and intake. A Brazilian flag and the barcode used in lieu of Marlboro script when required by advertising restrictions also adorn the doors. McLaren says it took more than 800 hours to paint and finish the bespoke P1 GTR, which includes Senna's 1988 race number '12' on the nose, bespoke 30th-anniversary laurels behind the side windows, and discreet branding acknowledging a range of McLaren technical partners past and present.

Nicknamed 'Beco' by the owner in honor of the nickname given to Ayrton by his parents, the bespoke P1 GTR also has a 24-carat gold heatshield, Lexan rear cover, and modified engine bay shrouds. These modifications have resulted in a "suitably pleasing" increase in power according to the owner, but McLaren hasn't released any specifications. The standard McLaren P1 GTR delivers a 986 hp thanks to a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 and an electric motor.

To help the owner take advantage of the increased performance, MSO has added some external modifications including new front dive planes, a wider front splitter, a Gurney flap and new barge boards that improve airflow along the sides of the car, increasing downforce to around 1,763 lbs. The rear wing also features much bigger endplates, echoing the look of the MP4/4's wing.

Inside, a reproduction of Senna's signature can be seen on the carbon fiber chassis sill above his famous quote: "I am not designed to finish 2nd or 3rd...I am designed to win". The steering wheel has also been trimmed in Alcantara with stitching color-matched to the wheel of the MP4/4's and there's Senna branding on the steering wheel. The seats have been swapped with the same lightweight racing seats found in the brutal McLaren Senna. MSO also created a bespoke crash helmet commissioned by the owner that complements the car's livery.
