Will likely debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Check out the latest images of the next-gen 2016 BMW X1, which was caught while out testing giving us a chance to get a good look at its new exterior and interior styling. While the black-and-white spiral wrap hides plenty, a lack of cladding reveals the compact crossover’s real lines, while we can also see its new sloping roofline, prominent front grille, twin exhaust and roof-mounted spoiler.
Shots of the undisguised interior show a typically high-end cabin, which is expected to offer more room in the new model thanks to a transverse engine layout. Internally called the F48, the all-new BMW X1 will ride on the FWD platform (UKL1) sourced from the 2-Series Active Tourer. The new platform offers more interior space while reducing production costs. Optional xDrive AWD will be offered along with a range of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines as well as a 1.5-liter turbo-three pot. The new BMW X1 is tipped to debut in the middle of next year.
