Earlier this month, we got our first look at the upcoming Alpina XB7 facelift. Based on the BMW X7, the Alpina XB7 is effectively the high-performance X7 M BMW refuses to make, although reports suggest BMW M is cooking up an X8 M super SUV. In our last sighting, the XB7 prototype was loaded on a transport, but this time it's been caught roaming the streets, giving us a clearer look at the refreshed performance SUV.

Like the regular X7, camouflage is covering the SUV's redesigned split headlights, which will also be applied to the 7 Series facelift and the upcoming X8 M.

The prototype also appears to be fitted with the production taillights and revised front and rear bumpers, which suggests it's nearly ready for production.

There are also several design cues that indicate this is not a regular X7, such as quad exhaust tips and larger brakes. Our spies were unable to get a look inside the cabin, but previous spy shots have already confirmed the X7 facelift will get a new curved screen with a similar layout as the iX, incorporating a driver information display and infotainment screen. Since Alpina's high-performance SUV is based on the X7 facelift, the interior tech should carry over.

No changes are expected under the hood, so expect the updated XB7 to pack a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. In the X7, this unit produces 523 hp and 553 lb-ft, but Alpina has uprated it to 612 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, enabling the seven-seat SUV to sprint from 0-60 mph in just 4.2 seconds.

The facelifted BMW X7 is expected to debut in 2022, so the Alpina version should follow shortly after. Considering that the 2020 model sold out in just a few months, we expect the updated XB7 will be very popular.
