Originally there were 918 up for grabs. That is, of course, if you had at least $847,795 available to spend. And now there are less than 100 Porsche 918 Spyders still on the market, according to a new report from Reuters who recently spoke to the German automaker's sales chief. In fact, there's been especially strong demand for the plug-in hybrid hyper car from North America, where the price tag can go above $1 million if owners add optional equipment.

First unveiled in production form at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show, the 918 Spyder is powered by a 4.6-liter V8 that's wired to electric motors located both on the front and rear axles. That combination produces a wicked 887 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. 918 production is expected to run through this coming July. Most buyers are still waiting patiently for their pride and joy to arrive. Sadly, one has already burnt to the ground after catching fire at a gas station.
