Set to deliver all of the coupe's acclaimed goodness with the additional bonus of a soft folding top and open-air experience, the BMW 2 Series Convertible made its public debut in Paris this week. After arriving in Europe, it will come to the US next year in similar configurations to those of the coupe, including the 228i, M235i and now the 228i xDrive with all-wheel drive. The more potent six-cylinder M235i delivers 320 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque, while the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder 228i packs 240 hp and 255 lb-ft.

Pricing starts at $38,850 for the 228i, with xDrive models adding $2,000 and the M235i beginning at $48,650. The 228i will make the 0-60 mph sprint in 5.7 secs and 5.6 secs when equipped with xDrive, while the M235i promises to do so in 5.0 secs (manual) and 4.8 with the eight-speed auto. BMW will bring the droptop 2er to the LA Auto Show next month.
