BMW's facelifted 3 Series is now available as a stretched Gran Limousine, but only in India. The wheelbase is an extra 4.3 inches longer than the regular 3 Series sedan, and all of those inches are used to increase rear legroom.

BMW says the 3 Series Gran Limousine is the longest, most spacious, and most comfortable car in its segment. However, it does make sense for countries that are spoiled for choice when it comes to large cars. Like the USA, for example.

The stretched 3 Series is not entirely new, however. What's curious here is that the two models sold in India have been given the M Sport treatment.

The 3 Series Gran Limousine M Sport makes the same 255 horsepower as the regular 330i in the US. It hits 60 mph from a complete stop in 6.2 seconds and rides on 18-inch wheels. The 2.0-liter diesel engine option delivers 190 hp and has a 0-60 time of 7.6 seconds. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and drive is sent to the rear wheels.

BMW advertises the 3 Series Gran Limousine M Sport as having "superlative" luxury that includes tri-zone climate control and a panoramic glass sunroof. It also includes the latest BMW Operating System 8 for the infotainment system.

Paint options include Mineral White, Skyscraper Grey, Carbon Black, and Portimao Blue Metallic. Interior color options include Black, Vernasca Cognac, and Black/Mocha.

The more we think about it, the more we wish they would bring it to the US. We know BMW can make its long-wheelbase versions of cars fun to drive, and a longer wheelbase might even improve the handling. A 3 Series Li would also work as a super low-key chauffeured car in the US for those who want to avoid attracting attention.
