With the pending arrival of the new BMW 4 Series Coupe, our spy photographers have just managed to snap a few shots of its convertible counterpart out testing with the least amount camouflage we've seen so far. Aside from the folding hardtop, the convertible appears to have the same aggressive styling as the coupe, such as a more dynamic front-end than the latest 3 Series sedan on which it's based. While the outgoing 3 Series coupe and convertible were closely based on the sedan, the new 4 is going out on its own.

The design was previewed at the Detroit show in January by the Concept 4 Series Coupe, but will see some tweaks here and there on the road to production. Mechanically, the 4 Series coupe and convertible will share the same engine lineup as the 3 Series sedan and wagon when they debut this September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
