The clever minds at BMW have contrived a scheme for the ages - build the new 3 Series sedan, label the two-door coupe and convertible variants the 4 Series, then switch the 4 Series coupe back into a sedan, give it a new name and wa-la! - A new and pricier model to sling to prospective clients of the German brand. Penciled into BMW's lineup for 2015 under the moniker of the 4 Series Gran Coupe, the new Bimmer can be seen undergoing tests wrapped in a Vincent van Gogh-like "Starry Night" camouflage.

If features a lower front-end styled in the likeness of the 4 Series Coupe and Convertibles which have already been spotted testing, along with a lower roof-line and redesigned trunk. Along with being sleeker than its F30 sedan counterpart, it will also be a bit longer. Known in-house as the F36, the 4 Series Gran Coupe will serve as the flagship model in the non-M 3 and 4 Series ranges. It will share the same engines as the 4 Series variants along with its new kidney grille design. Meant to combine the stylish lines of a coupe with the convenience of a sedan, the Gran Coupe will carry a "best of the bunch" price tag when it debuts as a 2015 model.
