Ever since Mercedes-Benz first launched the CLS back in 2004, German automakers realized that applying the so-called "four door coupe" styling to an already existing sedan translates into huge profits. All three of the major German brands, BMW, Audi and Mercedes, are equally guilty of doing this. But business is business after all, and today we bring you some revealing spy images of the upcoming BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe.

As you've already likely figured out, it's nothing more than a 4 Series Coupe with an extra pair of doors. Or you could describe it as a 3 Series with a sleeker roofline. Regardless of which option you prefer to go with, the 4 Series Gran Coupe will be offered with the familiar 3 and 4 Series engine offerings. The interior will also be identical. Expect to see the 4 Series Gran Coupe have its official debut sometime next year as an early 2015 model.
