BMW 5 Series Carbon Edition Gives Luxury Sedan A Sporty Edge

Sedan / 2 Comments

Available in Q2 2019, BMW’s new Carbon Edition package will spice up the luxury sedan.

If you're looking to spice up your BMW 5 Series, Bimmer Post has revealed that BMW will soon be launching a new Carbon Edition package for the luxury sedan in the US that adds a host of M Performance enhancements. Available for the 530i, 530i xDrive, 540i, and 540i xDrive models, the optional package will include a slew of carbon fiber goodies from M Performance such as a front splitter, front spoiler lip, rear diffuser, and a trunk lid spoiler.

BMW will also add set of rocker panel decals and a matte black bumper trim at the back, while a unique Carbon Edition badge indicates this isn't a regular BMW 5 Series. Surprisingly, the Carbon Edition package won't be offered for the sporty M550i trim.

Elsewhere, the Carbon Edition also comes with some hardware upgrades, such as the M Sport Package, M-branded brakes, and 19-inch alloy wheels featuring a double-spoke design. Inside, the 5 Series will combine black Dakota leather with blue stitching. According to Bimmer Post, the BMW 5 Series Carbon Edition will set you back around $4,668 and will be available in the second quarter of 2019.

The Carbon Edition comes after the 5 Series received the BMW Individual Composition package in Europe earlier this year adding features such as an M aerodynamic package, M Sport suspension, M Sport brakes, 20-inch wheels, LED fog lights, trapezoidal exhausts, and fresh colors from the Individual catalog. Inside, the seats, instrument panel, and headliner are finished in leather, and there's also illuminated M-branded door sill plates.

The seventh-generation 5 Series launched in 2017, so we're not expecting it to receive a mid-cycle update until 2020 or 2021.
