Despite the fact that the US seems to be losing interest in sedans, the BMW 5 Series remains one of the most popular offerings in the luxury sport sedan segment. And, while it has had a bit of a facelift to keep it looking fresh for the 2021 model year, BMW Malaysia has taken it one step further by offering the 530i M Sport in a Dark Shadow Edition. For those who like their Bimmers to look aggressive and menacing, this makeover will ensure anyone spotting this sedan in their rearview mirror does a double-take; but you'll have to scramble to get your hands on one - if you live in Malaysia, of course.

Like the treatment given to the 2021 BMW X7 Dark Shadow Edition, the special Malaysian 5 Series gets exclusive Carbon Black exterior paint, Shadow Line window trim, a high-gloss black kidney grille, and 20-inch M Performance alloy wheels dressed in Orbit Grey. The cabin gets decked out in either black Dakota leather with blue stitching, or Cognac-colored hide with contrast finishes. And, while the update to the standard 5 Series lineup Stateside includes a few refreshed exterior and interior bits as standard, there's something to be said for the suave sedan when kitted out in Dark Shadow regalia.

Limited to only 36 examples, the 530i M Sport Dark Shadow Edition is exclusive to Malaysian enthusiasts that have around $2,500 more to spend over and above the price of the standard 530i M Sport. At a total cost of RM392,800 for the blacked-out beauty - that's around $97k when converted to US dollars - fans will have to act fast to book one of the limited-run editions, which can only be ordered online from January 4. Unlike the X7 Dark Shadow Edition, none of the 5 Series Dark Shadow Edition models will hit US shores.
