BMW Already Making Way for X7

Expanding Spartanburg plant to accommodate large SUV and other crossovers.

Just a few days ago, we reported on some rumors regarding BMW’s plans to build a large, line-topping SUV, probably a three-row model to be called the X7. Now, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that the company has already begun a massive expansion of its Spartanburg, South Carolina plant to make way for the large, Mercedes-Benz GL-fighting car. The X7 would join the X3, X4 and X5 which are already built at the SC plant.

Meanwhile, BMW still hasn't released any information regarding the X7, which we estimate would be offered with an engine line including a turbocharged six-cylinder, a V8 and a possibly a diesel. With a big announcement planned for March 28, we hope to have some answers from BMW regarding these questions.
