Since its unveiling at the 2019 Frankfurt Auto Show earlier in September, BMW has received a fair amount of feedback on its Concept 4, most of which has been criticism, disappointment and outright anger over its flared nostrils which takes the classic BMW kidney grille design to the extreme. Unfortunately, it's a definite precursor for the forthcoming 4 Series Coupe.

BMW has defended its choice stating the following: "Clearly illustrating the fact that this is no conventional coupé is above all the exclusive vertical BMW kidney grille, which, alongside narrow, open LED headlights with laser light, focuses attention on the front of the vehicle.

As with any new concept from a big automaker, some have already taken to altering the new Concept 4 to represent their own tastes and one such re-design done by X-Tomi Design has caught the attention of the internet.

Although we only get a teaser in the form of a side profile, the message comes through loud and clear: almost anything will look good as a shooting brake, especially the new Concept 4 with a slight nose job. Despite the car-loving public showing a keen interest in the sleek design, BMW has stated countless time before that the shooting brake design is simply too niche a design to put into production and wouldn't make economic sense, but a growing number of fans are voicing their desire for the practical yet sporty design.

A second rendering made by X-Tomi Design could materialize into an actual production model: the convertible version looks the part, showcasing the shapely body lines of the Concept 4, and doesn't seem too far fetched but still sports the controversial front grille which could potentially impact sales.

BMW has stated that there will be slight changes to the production model, with most hoping that those changes include taking a scalpel to the front end, but those dreaming of a shooting brake version can let go of the dream, at least for now.
