Most automakers are happy to have their cars showcased in video games like Forza, Gran Turismo or Need for Speed. But BMW wants more: its DesignworksUSA studio has taken to designing the gaming hardware itself. Previously it designed a gaming mouse, and now it's gone for the full shebang: a complete gaming PC designed for AS Rock. Set to debut this week at the Computex expo in Taiwan, the AS Rock M8 gaming system by BMW DesignworksUSA has been designed to showcase the computer's motherboard.

Like the Xbox 360, the M8 was designed to look good lying flat or standing up, with magnetic panel closure for easy access to the components and an OLED display integrated into the front knob to display the system's temperature, the date and time and adjustment of the volume and fan speed. "Gaming is all about emotion and individuality", said Designworks president Laurenz Schaffer. "So we created a design which is very much an exaggerated mode of expression. It speaks to the gamers' souls and offers iconic differentiation in a small Gaming-PC."
