We've always had a thing for the BMW 1 Series M Coupe, despite its canine pug-like stubby appearance. It's an enthusiast's car, plain and simple. Like its name clearly implies, it was built as a coupe only. That was simply unacceptable for this guy. He wanted a 1 M-er hot hatch. BMW never made it, so he decided to do it himself. Call it the world's first and only known 1M hatchback. Its builder hails from Eastern Jakarta, and he also happens to own a tuning shop that specializes in restorations, engine swaps, etc.

In other words, this guy already had everything needed to make this happen. Starting with a base three-door 1 Series, its 2.0-liter four-pot was swapped out for the famed N54 twin-turbocharged straight-six (the 1M coupe's engine). Aesthetically, he added a matching 1M front fascia and mid-sections. Also note that carbon fiber front splitter and BMW M Performance rear spoiler. The interior also features M Performance bits such as the steering wheel, seats, and even a retrofitted iDrive system. A turbo setup, air intake, race exhaust, front and rear brake setup, and a host of other mods complete the job. Not bad at all for a do-it-yourself project. Photos courtesy of Charles J I Hawknpoke.
