A rare BMW Art Car has gone up for auction in the Netherlands.
Famed Dutch artist (and apparent cardiologist) Menno Baars recently followed in the footsteps of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and the like in designing and painting a special BMW M3 Art Car. His unique canvas came in the form of a BMW E36 M3 GTR race car. Recently listed on the Dutch auction site BVA, the M3 was first revealed in January of 2011 at the Racing Expo in Leeuwarden.
In true artistic fashion, Baars said (in a very loose translation from Dutch on his website MennoBaars.nl) that his car "Has power to express the enchantment it gives me. On the other hand, had to show vitality and fertility." The BMW M3 Art Car features a slew of track-spec parts such as a pair of racing seats with 6-point seatbelts, fire extinguisher, carbon fiber roof, hood and trunk, adjustable rear spoiler and 6-piston AP Racing brakes. Plastic GTR front and rear spoilers have also been added along with a revised suspension.
It rides on some blacked-out 18-inch LM Rims with new Toyo tires which not only look great but further bring out Baars' unique finish. Is the BMW M3 race car by Menno Baars something you would bid on? Check out the gallery below and let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
