Hybrid halo car is set to bow at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show.
We won’t have to wait long for the BMW i8 hybrid supercar to be unveiled, but for those that can’t wait until Frankfurt 2013 opens its doors, check out these pictures of a scale model that comes from a BimmerPost forum member. The monochromatic finish makes for a nice change from the blue and white optical camo used to disguise the i8 during testing and its clear the production-ready BMW i8 will feature the Hofmeister kink.
Only last week BMW revealed performance and power specs of its new halo car. Power comes from a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-pot sending 231 hp to the rear wheels and an electric motor provides 131 hp to the front wheels. Total output comes to 362 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. 0-62 mph is a claimed 4.5 seconds, top speed capped at 155 mph and economy at 95 mpg on the US cycle.
