It'll be joined by a number of other spectacular machines.
Last year, the ongoing issues surrounding the pandemic forced the Chicago Auto Show to skip its usual annual slot of February, instead having a smaller summertime show in July. But this year, it's back in its usual slot, and BMW is making the most of it. The Bavarian automaker has just announced that it will be bringing its freshly revealed, high-performance electric SUV to the show - the BMW iX M60 - and it will be joined by a number of other models that will be dazzling (or offensive) to look at. So what can we expect?
Following on from its debut at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last month, the iX M60 will be displayed and shown off. With a maximum of 610 horsepower and 811 lb-ft of torque when Launch Control is activated, this is one serious SUV, and BMW will be keen to explain to showgoers how important this M-enhanced EV is to its future. As we previously reported, the iX M60 will launch in the US in June with a base price of $105,100 before a $995 destination charge. Naturally, BMW M can't talk about fast EVs without also showing off its i4 M50 sedan, so this will be on show too.
Alongside the two electric powerhouses, BMW will be putting its fantastic M5 CS on show. As the brand's quickest, most powerful model ever, the 627-hp M5 CS is truly special, and with a limited production run, the show may be one of the few opportunities you will have to get up close and personal with the car. The polarizing BMW M3 Competition will round off the M displays, while the X5 and refreshed 2022 X3 will showcase BMW's luxury SUV skills.
Media will have a preview day on Thursday, February 10, but the show opens to the public at the South Exhibit Hall of McCormick Place convention center from 12-21 February, 2022.
