BMW M135i Meets Mercedes A45 AMG in New Hot-Hatch Showdown

Hot Hatch

Chris Harris delves deeper into the fledgling German ultra-hatch segment.

After comfortably defeating the Audi RS3, Chris Harris has decided to give the superb BMW M135i some tougher competition in the shape of the Mercedes A45 AMG. In his latest episode for the Drive channel, the veteran auto scribe share his thoughts on the baby AMG and BMW’s premium hot-hatch offering, comparing them on road and track. US readers may find viewing these forbidden fruits tough going, but don’t despair as a sedan variant of the A45 in the form of the CLA45 AMG is coming to US showrooms.

The German ultra-hatch segment is warming up nicely in Europe and is a genre we wish would gain traction stateside. Maybe more videos like this will create enough of a demand to make it so.
