Though it'd easy to lump all hot hatches into the same category, in reality there's a wide variety between them. The BMW M135i and Subaru Impreza WRX STI, for example, may seem about as far apart on the hot-hatch spectrum as can be. One's German, the other Japanese. One's a three-door, the other four (making it a sedan, technically, but we'll let that slide). One's a premium product, the other a juiced econo-box. What they have in common is their output: both produce 315 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, but deliver them in very different ways.

So Auto Express took them to the track to see which one's fastest. Ignore the clerical error at AE that labeled the BMW as the 1 Series M Coupe and identified its transmission as a DSG instead of an automatic, and check out the video below to see which has come out on top.
