While we all eagerly wait for the hardcore and highly anticipated BMW M2 Competition model, the brand from Bavaria has given us something else to amuse our bouche at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the BMW M2 Black Shadow Edition. Finished in smooth Sapphire Black metallic paint, BMW says it created the Black Shadow Edition in order to celebrate the M2's absurdly successful 2017. With global deliveries eclipsing 12,000 units, it was the most popular M car last year by a wide margin.

Complimenting the dark finish, exterior mirrors have been given a carbon fiber finish, while the kidneys and exterior trim bars have been swathed inhigh-glossblack paint. The rear diffuser has also been given a carbon fiber look and the M2's double gun tailpipes have been finished inblack-chrome. Furthermore, the package rides on a matte black set of 19-inch forged Y-spoke alloy wheels which look like they were yanked off the BMW M4 CS. The changes to the BMW M2 Black Edition Coupe are purely visual. You're treated to the same 365 horsepower turbocharged inline-six engine which will motivate the littlest M car to 62 mph in 4.3 seconds when equipped with the optional 7-speed M dual clutch transmission with Drivelogic.

BMW says the new special edition will be available starting next month, but pricing information has yet to be released. However, if you truly want something special you might be better off waiting for the M2 Competition model which is widely expected to show up in June sporting a 400 horsepower version of the M4's potent twin-scroll turbocharged inline-six motor, along with an upgraded suspension, brakes, chassis optimizations, and the obligatory suite of carbon fiber items.
