This Dakar Yellow M3 by BMW Individual as recently treated to a styling overhaul by Illinois tuning house iND and the result was crowned the best modified BMW M3 at this year's Bimmerfest. The E90 M3 had already received a comprehensive performance upgrade by Powerbeast, who added an ESS supercharger that upped output to 600 hp, a KW Club Sport Suspension, Brembo brakes, BBW FI alloys, a 3D Design rear diffuser, a Vorsteiner GTS-V carbon-fiber front lip and, coincidentally, a carbon-fiber roof conversion by iND.

Fine detailing was all that was needed to perfect the E90 M3 and iND started by adding original carbon-fiber mirrors from the BMW Motorsport program followed by several subtle touches of gloss black paint, from the hose clamps in the engine bay to the speaker surrounds. Under the hood, iND added carbon-fiber strut bars by Dinan, Dakar Yellow ignition coil covers, similarly colored supercharger and diverter valve, and the ESS intake manifold was finished in Lamborghini's Grigio Estoque. Most of the work was done inside, where the BMW Performance seats were re-stitched with Dakar Yellow thread and the seat backs repainted in the same high gloss black with yellow flake that trims the interior.

The dash, headliner and door panels were reupholstered in a mix of black leather and Alcantara, a genuine M3 GTS arm rest was fitted, while a one-piece custom built toll bar by Fall Line Motorsports was finished in Dakar Yellow. Rounding off the interior details was a pair of yellow seat belts. The roll cage does away with the rear seats, so don't even ask us why they started with the sedan instead of the coupe. Otherwise it strikes us as a rather stunning, if somewhat impractical, tuning job performed on a tuner favorite.
