BMW M3 Pickup from Nurburgring

BMW M3 'ute April Fools Day joke

In case you missed it, the 'world's fastest pickup' made its debut a couple weeks ago at the M Festival at the Nurburgring 24 Hours. The M3 pickup can hit 186mph and even showed off its potential on the North Loop of the Nurburgring. Actually, the one-off M3 Pickup was originally an April Fool's Day joke and was really built just for fun. It's basically an M3 hardtop convertible with half the hood removed and a tweaked rear. The base weight was reduced by 110lbs off the M3 Convertible and the Targa roof cuts off another 44lbs.

The maximum load capacity of the M3 Pickup was raised to 992lbs. BMW's official line on the truck read "the BMW M3 Pickup will not be heading for the golf course or series development, but will retain its status as an exclusive one-off. It is earmarked for use as a workshop transport vehicle for BMW M GmbH." Photos courtesy of bmwblog.com
