BMW M6 GT3 Introduced With 500-HP V8 and 1,300-KG Curb Weight

Reveal

Will compete next year.

BMW Motorsport has revealed the first images of its new M6 GT3 race car. Wider, lower and with a massive rear wing, the GT3-spec BMW M6 Coupe, previewed last year, is wearing some black-and-white camo but we can still spot additional vents on the hood and rear quarter panels, as well as new side exhausts, and LED headlights from the facelifted 6 Series. Power comes from a specially-modified 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that features dry sump lubrication and delivers over 500 horsepower.

All that grunt is sent to the tarmac via a six-speed sequential race-spec transmission. Thanks to weight-saving measures such as a stripped-out interior, the M6 GT3 weighs just 1,300 kg, while the body has been aerodynamically optimized in the wind tunnel. These images come from BMW’s Dingolfing factory in Germany where the M6 GT3 will undergo testing ahead of its racing debut next year.
