As you might know, BMW is currently celebrating the 50th anniversary of its M division.

The big news is obviously the all-new M4 CSL, but BMW is also introducing a special Anniversary edition of the first M motorcycle, the M 1000 RR.

If you missed the news the first time around, the first M motorcycle has a 999-cc inline four-cylinder that produces 205 horsepower and 83 lb-ft of torque. It gets to 62 mph in 3.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 190 mph. It comes standard with launch control, and you can order it with a Competition Package. All standard M stuff, except on two wheels.

BMW first started producing M Performance parts for its motorcycles in 2018, but it waited until 2020 to unveil the first full-fledged M bike. According to BMW, it sticks to the same principles as M vehicles like the M5 CS. In other words, it's targeted at customers who demand performance, exclusivity, and individuality.

The BMW M 1000 RR has also served as the basis for the BMW Motorrad World Superbike Team since 2021, and several privateers use it.

To differentiate the 50th Anniversary model, BMW paints the bodywork in Sao Paulo Yellow, a color that made its debut on the current M4. It also comes with 50 Years M Anniversary badges, carbon front and rear fenders, upper fairing side panels, left and right carbon tank covers, a carbon chain guard, and a sprocket cover.

The M Billet Pack is also included and consists of billet aluminum engine protectors, folding brake and clutch levers, M rider's rear seats, and front brake lever guard. Because it will most likely be used on the track, an M Endurance chain is standard, and you get an M GPS lap timer with trigger software.

On the street side, BMW adds a rear seat cover and passenger kit. Like every M car, it needs to work on both the road and the track.

The Anniversary has an MSRP of MSRP of $36,995 plus a $645 destination charge. That's $32,495 for the standard motorcycle, plus the required $4,500 for the required $4,500 50 Years M Package.

The expected US market arrival is scheduled for late in the third quarter of this year.
