The luxury vehicle segment is fiercely competitive. Simply put, if you're not willing to introduce new luxuries and improve on tech, you'll be left behind. BMW knows this and continues to usher in new models and updates at a dizzying rate of speed. Following the arrival of the all-new 7 Series and facelifted X7, this week Munich unveiled the 3 Series LCI.

Now, the rest of the lineup will receive updates to improve the overall ownership experience. The 4 Series Gran Coupe range will grow with the advent of the rear-wheel-drive M440i. While Euro-spec models feature a 374-horsepower 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six, we assume American models will gain the beefier 382 hp engine, as used in the M440i xDrive.

Still, the performance figures are promising. The sprint to 60 mph is reached in less than five seconds, with power sent to the rear wheels via the smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission. While slightly slower than the all-paw derivative, we're guessing the classic RWD setup will sway many buyers.

From June 2022, 4 Series M models (and the i4 M50) will be made available with the M Sport Package Pro. This includes an M sports braking system (with red-painted calipers), as well as M Shadow Line lights, extended Gloss Shadow Line and, lastly, M seat belts. A new Skyscraper Grey metallic paint finish for the 4 Series Coupe and 4 Series Convertible has been included.

Elsewhere, the BMW X5 and X6 receive Sensafin interior trim as standard. Available from summer 2022, customers will be able to select from five upholstery color choices; BMW notes the newly introduced material boasts "leather-like properties." It's worth noting both models are set to receive a facelift shortly.

The venerable 5 Series hasn't been forgotten, either. Bavaria's consummate midsize luxury sedan will gain the same optional M Sport Package Pro as the aforementioned 4 Series range, along with a black-painted rear spoiler. The Skyscraper Grey hue is also available, along with a new Arctic Race Blue hue.

BMW's sportier models will also receive a host of updates. From July 2022, the M3 Sedan will receive the latest generation of iDrive, along with the Curved Display, as standard. Optional features now include a new Innovation package, new interior inlays, and a Sensatec-trimmed instrument panel, among other items. Frozen Pure Grey metallic from BMW Individual is also available.

The M4 Coupe can now be specified with unique M graphics for the engine bay and trunk. This, says BMW, lends the RS5 rival a special touch, with the BMW M logo sited on the engine compartment. The company has not mentioned when these updates will reach the American market, but we assume it will follow the June 2022 European changes closely.

BMW's only roadster will also receive a few updates of its own. Buyers can look forward to enhanced in-car technology, courtesy of the now-standard Live Cockpit Professional. This means the sleek Z4 receives fully digital instrumentation and a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Connected Package Professional.

European customers can also look forward to updates on the 2 Series Active Tourer, while a raft of turbodiesel and small capacity gas engines will be made available, such as the 218i Coupe and 430d Gran Coupe.
