BMW Reveals 4-Series Coupe-Convertible

Convertible

Yeah, it's basically a new 3-Series convertible.

Adding to the woes of those annoyed by the nomenclature of the BMW 4-Series, there is now a convertible version, and it’s quite a nice looking car. The model sports a folding metal roof, allowing for a much more coupe-like experience when the top is up. The model is essentially an evolution of the outgoing 3-Series convertible, which has the same roof arrangement. But the new model offers a bit more luggage space, even with the top down, and a more aerodynamic shape as well.

In fact, despite the change in name, the 4-Series is not a radical departure from the old model, and is a clear evolutionary step. Two engines will be available for the US market, a 240-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a 300-horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder. Europe will also have the option of a 2.0-liter turbodiesel. And as you would expect, an eight-speed automatic will be standard for North America, which a six-speed manual will be standard in Europe, with the auto as an option. Base price for the US is $49,675.
