It's been a long-running joke in the industry that Porsche likes to charge you extra cash for items that you'd expect to be standard, but make no mistake - every automaker out there will promote an upgrade wherever possible. Sometimes, the flooding of the market with upgraded parts diminishes how special they are, but the aesthetic appeal of factory-developed upgrades is worth the money.

BMW is especially fond of selling you upgrades, especially from the M Performance parts catalog. The M3 and M4 aren't immune to this, not even EVs can escape expensive options, and now it's the turn of the 4 Series Gran Coupe.

In a fleeting Instagram post, the short video above draws attention to the M Performance upgrades available for the four-door coupe, and they look very similar to those just unveiled for the i4 EV. While we can't glean much from the video on BMW Germany's Instagram page, particularly as it doesn't make specific mention of the upgrades, we can see a host of add-ons that includes a carbon fiber front lip, carbon fiber grille surrounds, carbon fiber side skirt accents, carbon fiber mirror caps, and M Performance decals. The carbon theme continues at the rear with a diffuser and trunk spoiler made from the sixth element.

M Performance multi-spoke wheels also feature as a nice contrast to the Alpine White paint, but nothing of the cabin is shown. We assume that the same theme seen on the i4 will carry over here, so expect to be able to order a special steering wheel and gear-selector too. And if past generations like the F-series range of BMWs are anything to go by, we'll eventually get access to M Performance taillights and other novelties. As for when these products will release locally or what they'll cost, we can only guess wildly. But be sure to keep some cash aside - BMW will definitely want to have at your savings when orders open.
