BMW Tuner Gives 2020 Toyota GR Supra A Power Boost

AC Schnitzer offers a unique take on the 2020 Toyota GR Supra.

In its heyday, the last-generation Toyota Supra was one of the most customized sports cars in the aftermarket tuning scene. It comes as no surprise, then, that companies are wasting no time giving the 2020 Toyota GR Supra the aftermarket tuning treatment. After Toyota showcased a slew of modified Supras at the 2019 SEMA show, renowned BMW tuner AC Schnitzer has revealed its unique take on the reborn Japanese sports car.

Starting under the hood, AC Schnitzer has extracted 400 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque from the Supra's BMW-sourced 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six engine, an increase of 65 hp and 75 lb-ft over the standard model.

Performance specifications haven't been revealed, but the power boost should improve the Supra's standard 4.1-second 0-62 mph time and 155-mph top speed. A sports rear silencer also optimizes the sound and gives the rear a sportier look thanks to two tailpipes available in carbon or black anodised stainless steel.

To increase the car's downforce, AC Schnitzer has fitted a racing-style rear wing with an available gurney flap and a new front splitter in matt black. Other exterior modifications include triangular-shaped carbon hood vents and a front license plate holder. A set of 20-inch light-alloy rims in bicolor or anthracite or lightweight forged wheels in silver/anthracite or anthracite/silver complete the look.

The tuner's RS coilover suspension makes the sports car sit one inch closer to the road, which lowers the center of gravity and improves the car's cornering abilities to make the Toyota GR Supra even more fun and engaging to drive. Thanks to its high residual spring travel, the tuner claims the RS coilover suspension is suitable for everyday use and track driving. Alternatively, a separate suspension spring set is also available that lowers the car by around 0.6 inches.

Inside, the interior can be kitted out with aluminum accessories including shift paddles, a pedal set with matching footrest, a keyholder, and a cover for the iDrive system controller.
