BMW of North America has partnered with Scenic America for a unique initiative that will see the German automaker plant 25 trees for every EV test driven between April 18 and May 1.

Scenic America and BMW will plant these trees in fire-damaged woodlands, with Marcus Casey explaining that this project aligns nicely with the values and beliefs BMW holds. "Sustainability is at the core of our BMW Group values, extending well beyond the cars we make to the way in which we live and operate in the world around us."

"Joining forces with Scenic America allows us to give back to the planet in a meaningful way - one tree at a time, one EV test drive at a time, while also showcasing our growing lineup of fully electric vehicles," added Casey.

Currently, BMW offers several EVs in the United States. This includes the iX SUV, the i4 Gran Coupe, and the range-topping i7. The lineup will grow to accommodate the i5 in the coming months. Sadly, there are no plans to introduce the compact iX1 locally.

Despite the controversial styling, eco-minded consumers can't get enough of BMW's electric vehicles. In the first quarter of 2023, the Bavarian brand shifted 6,588 EVs in the United States alone, which accounts for 8% of the total sales. Add plug-in hybrids to the mix, and that figure increases to 17%. Last year, the company said it was aiming to double its EV sales figures and is now aiming to triple that figure in the USA for the 2023 sales year.

By 2030, BMW aims to sell at least one million fully electric vehicles in America.

Scenic America, the only non-profit dedicated to preserving America's natural landscape, is the ideal partner for this initiative. "We believe that this partnership is a great opportunity to advance several core components of Scenic America's mission, through both the planting of trees and promotion of electric vehicles," said Mark Falzone, president of Scenic America.

"We are very excited to work with BMW on this initiative and look forward to expanding this program in the future to help plant more trees in more areas," he added.

If you're interested in saving the environment - and experiencing one of BMW's new electric models - you simply need to head down to a participating dealership between the aforementioned dates. Planting trees is a great way to help the environment, and you can help do so with minimal effort.
