We hope you like black and orange.
The BMW X2 may be one of the brand's quirkier designs, but unlike the new M3 and M4, most people quite like the way this Bimmer looks. It's a handsome vehicle, but what if it's not "out there" enough for you? Well, there's already a special edition out, but it's difficult to tell it apart from the standard model. If you want to really draw attention, BMW is now offering the X2 Edition M Mesh. Odd name aside, this is one of the zaniest offerings from the manufacturer so far. Available on sDrive28i and xDrive28i models, this new special edition package aims to make the regular X2 sportier.
The first thing you may notice is that the body has been decorated with black and orange vinyl, but this feature will not be offered on US models. Nevertheless, our variant will still stand out thanks to new 19- or 20-inch 919M wheels with orange or black accents. There's also plenty of gloss black on the exterior including a new M Mesh kidney grille. In terms of paint, five color options are available: Alpine White, Phytonic Blue Metallic, Black Sapphire Metallic, and Sunset Orange Metallic. The last hue is new and is called Brooklyn Grey Metallic and is probably one of the best colors this car comes in.
Inside, more M Sport accents borrowed from the X2 M35i feature, including M Sport seats and a matching steering wheel with paddles. You also get Aluminum Hexagon trim with Pearl Grey Chrome accents. The standard drivetrain is unchanged, meaning you get 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque from a 2.0-liter four-pot, but if you spec summer performance tires, the top speed can be raised from 130 mph to 143/144 mph for the AWD/FWD models respectively. So what does the new special edition cost? Available as a limited package, you can add it to the 28i models for $3,550. If you're not a fan of the pricing, Mercedes is being pretty competitive at the moment.
