Spied here testing on the road, the upcoming new BMW X4 shares its underpinnings with the X3, but stands both lower and wider, affording it a more aggressive stance. At a glance it looks a lot like a scaled down version of the X6, while power is said to come from a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four or an optional 3.0-liter turbo inline-six. However there is talk BMW will ditch the smaller powerplant to position the crossover as a more upmarket proposition. The 2014 BMW X4 could debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show with production to start next year and a X4 M variant to follow.
