BMW X4 Looks Ready For Extreme Body Kit

/ Comments

Hamann has some stylish solutions for the Bavarian compact crossover coupe.

If you're in the market for a stylish and sporty crossover, you could do a lot worse than the BMW X4. But if the stock version doesn't quite do it for you, there's no shortage of aftermarket tuners that'll crank it up a notch or two for you. Like Hamann, which recently previewed this new body kit for the compact slantback crossover.

The German tuner, based halfway between BMW and Audi's headquarters in Munich and Mercedes and Porsche's in Stuttgart, is no stranger to customizing Bimmers. And this latest, though not for the feint of heart, looks as good as anything else it's done to date.

The body kit includes a new front spoiler, wheel-arch extensions, and rear diffuser. Hamann's also offering a suspension-lowering kit, quad-tip exhaust kit, and a giant set of 22-inch multi-spoke alloys to fill those flared fenders. Further details are still to come, but you can bet there'll be some interior enhancements offered (like the checkerboard pedals pictured) as well, and maybe some performance upgrades, too.

As it stands, though, the new X4 is no slouch. Even in base xDrive30i spec, it packs a 2.0-liter turbo four good for 248 horsepower. And output only climbs from there, together with its performance capabilities.

Step up to the X4 M40i and you get a 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six rated at 382 hp. And then of course there's the X4 M, with a more potent version of the same engine upgraded to 473 horsepower – or 503 in the X4 M Competition, more than doubling the base model's output and dropping the 0-60 time down to four seconds flat.

Naturally each step up the ladder raises the price incrementally, from $51,100 for the X4 xDrive30i, to $61k for the X4 M40i, $73,400 for the X4 M, and a whopping $80,400 for the X4 M Competition. And that's all before you let Hamann (or any other tuner) get their hands on it.
