BMW has added an entry into its film portfolio with a video called The Calm. Premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, the short yet action-packed film is the first BMW Films production in seven years. It also joins 2001's The Hire on the brand's film list.

The show's star is the BMW i7 M70, the German automaker's full-size luxury M-badged electric sedan. Dubbed the fastest all-electric BMW in history, the vehicle was seen aggressively cruising on the highway while being chased by two motorcycles, running with a powertrain capable of 650 horsepower and a 3.5-second 0-60 mph time.

BMW brought renowned names to the seven-minute short film including Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Uma Thurman (Kill Bill). The director role is spearheaded by Sam Hargrave (Marvel Cinematic Universe), while Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) is credited as the executive producer.

Hans Zimmer, who composed scores for Interstellar, The Lion King, and Inception, is also part of the crew. He has been working with the automaker in producing full and sci-fi-like acceleration sounds in the brand's EVs, such as the BMW iX.

In the short film, Thurman and Klementieff play secret agents who have been summoned to a meeting in Cannes. The MCU actress had more screen time, fighting mysterious men in a "silent car chase sequence" that involved electric motorcycles, hence the film's title.

"We're thrilled for all film fans to experience 'The Calm'," said Stefan Ponikva, Vice President of Brand Communication and Brand Experience, BMW.

"When we started out with this project, we knew we had to build a new chapter of a series with rich history and high standards. We're proud to be furthering this tradition with a new compelling addition, and I am convinced this comeback will give both new and existing fans a lot of satisfaction!"

With BMW's history of making multiple films per 'season,' perhaps we'll see Klementieff and Thurman return in future installments, maybe driving the new BMW Concept Touring Coupe.
