It has been over three years since Australian specialized supercar manufacturer Brabham blessed the world with the brutal BT62. This machine was built to compete with high-end machinery such as the McLaren Senna, with 700 horsepower and 492 lb-ft of torque from its naturally-aspirated 5.4-liter V8 engine on tap. Brabham Automotive was founded by former Formula 1 racer and Le Mans 24 Hours winner David Brabham, so going fast is in this company's DNA. After the release of the track-only BT62, the company then launched the road-going BT62 Competition, and later the even friendlier BT62R. The company has now returned to its roots with the hardcore BT63 GT2 Concept Race Car, aiming to compete in the 2022 European GT2 Championship.

The latest Brabham creation is based on the original BT62, but has been modified to comply with stringent Euro GT2 rules, which requires an engine de-tune and added aero bits amongst others. Under the engine cover you'll find the same dry-sump naturally-aspirated 5.4-liter V8 engine, but the incredible power output of the original BT62 (700 horsepower and 492 lb-ft) has now been reduced to around 600 hp. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a sequential transmission.

The exterior of this aggressive-looking racer now features a more pronounced racing rear wing, large spoiler, and obligatory rear diffuser. Unfortunately, Brabham is tight-lipped about the suspension and braking setup on the car.

Due to all the added safety gear and aero bits, the BT63 GT2 weighs in at between 2,645 lbs and 2,866 lbs, making it close to 500 lbs heavier than the BT62. Brabham plans to make its racing debut with the new car later this year at the inaugural Fanatec 2022 GT2 European Championship where it will compete in the invitational class around Circuit Paul Richard on October 1-3. Those interested in racing one of these machines will have to fork over $473,650 at current exchange rates.
