Brabus' Tuned Mercedes S550 Hyrbid Makes The Model S Look Tame

Tuning

A new body kit and boosted engine will do that.

Brabus has shown off a tuning kit for the Mercedes-Benz S550 hybrid. Yup, the world-renown tuning house has turned its attention to the oft-forgotten Mercedes eco sedan, and the result is pretty damn impressive. The 3.0-liter V6 received a 52-horsepower boost and an additional 52 lb-ft of torque. All told the hybrid now kicks out 385 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque with its gas engine alone. Those numbers jump to 493 horsepower and 655 lb-ft of torque when the electric engine is added into the mix.

The hybrid goes from 0 to 62 in just 4.9 seconds, although the top speed is still electronically limited to 155 mph. In addition to the engine boost there’s also a new body kit that makes liberal use of carbon fiber, custom Brabus wheels and a decked out interior highlighted by a touchscreen instrument panel and rear-mounted touchscreen entertainment screens. It's easy to forget that Mercedes makes hybrids, but Brabus is doing its part to help you remember.
