Giving the Audi R8 a facelift is like Jenny McCarthy getting botox - you don't really need it but it looks good nonetheless. You can definitely overdo it (just Google Lisa Rinna or Dolly Parton), however it looks like Audi took the conservative route and just touched up their supercar a bit. The changes on the front-end include a new hexagon-shaped grille that we previously saw on the R8 e-tron prototype that was burning up the Nurburgring and new LED-equipped headlights. The rear received some new taillights and GT-inspired exhaust pipes.

Power for the 2013 Audi R8 will come from tweaked versions of the previous year's 4.2-liter V8 and 5.2-liter V10. The latter is expected to achieve around 540hp. It will be mated to a S-tronic dual-clutch gearbox, replacing the R-tonic sequential tranny found in the R8s of years' past. The 2013 Audi R8's facelift will apply to not only the coupe model, but to the convertible as well. We expect it to make its debut in September at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Update: Photos have just come into the CarBuzz offices of the Audi R8's facelift completely uncovered and sans any camouflage.

The new model, it's safe to say, looks terrific. Feel free to share your thoughts of the 2013 Audi R8 supercar complete with its new facelift in the comments below.
