It's been over three years since the Rimac C_Two all-electric hypercar debuted at the Geneva Motor Show. Despite what many might have assumed, it wasn't the final production version. Nor is the C_Two name final. Since 2018, the Croatian carmaker and EV technology powerhouse of which Porsche recently upped its stake from 15.5 percent to 24 percent have continued to develop the final production version, which would have been ready for the 2020 Swiss show if it had taken place. But the wait is finally over.

Rimac has just released a brief teaser video announcing the production-spec C_Two will officially debut this Tuesday, June 1. Its new name will be announced that day as well along with "more extreme performance, immersive features, extraordinary technology, and exceptional engineering."

There have been some strong indicators the production car is done and ready, such as final aerodynamic testing and two days' worth of crash tests that saw two C_Two prototypes get completely destroyed. Last month, company founder and CEO Mate Rimac personally demonstrated the C_Two smashing the Bugatti Chiron's quarter-mile time, making it the fastest accelerating road car in the world for this length of asphalt.

With track mode activated, the prototype went from 0-60 mph in 2.33 seconds, 60-130 in mph in 3.39 seconds, and passed the quarter-mile mark in 8.94 seconds at 154.19 mph. The Chiron? It does the quarter-mile in 9.4 seconds.

Rimac further stressed the production version will be even faster and more refined. The prototype's output figures are already staggering with 1,888 horsepower and 1,696 lb-ft of torque. Rimac claims a 0-60 mph time of 1.85 seconds should be possible once all of the software bugs are worked out. Buyers also won't have to worry about range as Rimac claims an estimated 404 miles of range according to NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) testing, though it's not as reliable as the EPA cycle.

We'll have all of the official performance figures, range, and name in just a few days' time. Stay tuned.
