Bride Turns a Beetle into a Porsche

I wish that I had Jesse's girl...

Everyone has heard the old adage: Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue. A bride in England recently put that old saying into practice, as she took her 1969 Beetle she bought in university and converted it over 6 years into a Porsche 356. This is the story of Megan Ashton, a member of the British Royal Navy and engineer who always dreamed of arriving at her wedding in a Porsche.

The blue (get it?) Porsche 356 was a project that began in 2005 and she just completed it in time for her wedding day to a fellow member of the British service. The whole project cost £4,000 and includes a 356 body shell, Porsche steering wheel and speedometer. It can hit over 100mph, not bad for a 40-year old plus Beetle. "I loved every minute of it and it was such a special moment to be able to pull up on my wedding day in it. It was a close-run thing getting the car finished in the end, but after six years it was well worth it," she said.

She purchased the car for £200 and it is now valued at roughly £25,000. Not only did she complete this terrific project but she also found a place in our hearts. We here at CarBuzz wish her the best and hope she has a sister.
