When one thinks of the ideal roadster, the Mazda MX-5 Miata is often the car that comes to mind first. But after years of it dominating the segment that was invented by the British, a new UK-built roadster is about to enter the arena. Iconic British sports car maker, Trident, will officially debut its all-new Iceni Grand Tourer at the Salon Prive in West London from September 5th - 7th. Think of the event as a supercar Concours d'Elegance.

Describing it as "beautiful, innovative and unique," Trident says the Norfolk-built Iceni's outstanding performance and vital statistics can be attributed to the patented Torque Multiplication technology. It'll have a top speed of nearly 200mph and a 0-60 mph time of only 3.7 seconds. Power comes from a mid-front mounted 6.6-liter turbo-diesel that takes full advantage of the advanced torque technology. Interestingly, the Iceni is capable of running on mineral diesel, bio diesel, palm oil and linseed oil. All told, it produces 430 horsepower and an insane 950 pound-feet of torque at under 3,250rpm. Buyers can also upgrade their car to 660hp with 1,050lbs-ft.

Capable of delivering 68.9 mpg, it'll also go more than 200 miles on one full tank of diesel. It all sounds wonderful, but there is a kicker: the price. Trident says the Iceni will be priced from £75,000 and the first orders will be taken at its premiere event.
