Bugatti Chiron Super Sport Is A Smash Hit In America

Supercars / Comments

Nearly half of Chiron Super Sport orders in the US are from new customers.

Just when you thought the Bugatti Chiron couldn't get any better, Bugatti introduced the new Chiron Super Sport back in June. While the more agile Chiron Pur Sport is designed to tackle corners, the new Super Sport is designed for top speed. Flat out, the Chiron Super Sport will reach 273 mph, making it one of the fastest production cars in the world.

Even at these insane speeds, the Chiron Super Sport is remarkably stable thanks to its optimized aerodynamics, making it comfortable for long-distance journeys. Since it went on sale, the Chiron Super Sport has been particularly popular in North America, attracting new and existing customers alike.

The Chiron Super Sport made its North American debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, during Monterey Car Week last month. It clearly made a strong impression, because according to Bugatti, 45 percent of orders for the Chiron Super Sport in the US are from new customers.

"At the pinnacle of automotive technology and design, Bugatti sells cars to a very small and specific group of customers, most of which are collectors that have more than one Bugatti or ultra-high-end vehicle in their garage," said Cedric Davy, Chief Operating Officer of Bugatti of the Americas.

"As we reach the end of the limited Chiron production, we are seeing more and more new customers approach Bugatti for the opportunity to own the greatest representation of the W16 engine." And what an engine it is. Powering this extraordinary grand tourer is an 8.0-liter, quad-turbo W16 engine producing 1,577 horsepower and 1,180 lb-ft of torque. This enables the Chiron Super Sport to rocket from 0-124 mph in 5.8 seconds and 0-186 mph in 12.1 seconds. It's also seven percent faster than the regular Chiron from 0-249 mph.

The Chiron Super Sport is the latest in a long line of high-performance Super Sport models dating back to the Type 55 Super Sport in the 1930s as well as the EB 110 Super Sport and Veyron Super Sport. In the US, pricing for the Chiron Super Sport starts at $3.8 million, with customer deliveries starting in 2022.
