Bugatti Is Planning Something Special For Pebble Beach

Could we see a successor to the Bugatti Divo debut?

We've been spoiled with limited-edition Bugatti hypercars lately. The one-off La Voiture Noire stole the show at Geneva this year when it was revealed as the most expensive new car ever made, costing the mystery owner a whopping $18 million. Then only last year, Bugatti lifted the wraps off the limited-edition Divo at Pebble Beach, with sharper styling and better handling than the Chiron it's based on. And according to The Supercar Blog, Bugatti will present yet another limited-edition hypercar at this year's Pebble Beach show in August. Potentially, Bugatti could be debuting a successor to the Divo.

Details are scarce, but an inside source has told the publication that Bugatti's new special edition hypercar will be produced in extremely limited numbers. An exact figure wasn't given, but the Divo was limited to just 40 units so we're expecting the new model to have a similar production cap. Likewise, the new limited-edition Bugatti is expected to be priced at a premium over the standard Chiron. No price tag was given, but the Divo cost $5.8 million to give you an idea.

Like the Divo and La Voiture Noire, Bugatti's latest limited-edition model will likely be based on the Chiron and feature a bespoke body to distinguish it from the standard car. If so, expect it to use the same 8.0-liter W16 engine as the Chiron, which produces 1,479 horsepower. In the Divo, top speed was limited to 236 mph, down from 261 mph in the standard Chiron, so it remains to be seen if Bugatti's new limited-edition model has a similar restriction. We've reached out to Bugatti for comment and will update the article if we hear back.

Bugatti is reportedly aiming to introduce two new cars every year. The La Voiture Noire was one of the two planned this year, so the upcoming limited edition is likely to be the second one. According to The Supercar Blog, Bugatti could also be planning to unveil a new hypercar at the annual Grand Tour event in September 2019, which could either be the long-awaited Chiron Super Sport or a new four-door sedan.
