With China's market now accounting for nearly four times the number of Buick sales as those sold in America, every model now developed by the company is designed to succeed in the booming Asian country. But this 2016 Verano, which is largely based on the upcoming Opel Astra, is also destined for America, and will share its Delta II platform with the next Chevrolet Cruze. According to various reports, the car is expected to be highly 'European' in its spec, design and performance.

Underhood, we expect the Verano to be powered by GM's latest EcoTec turbocharged engines, with an additional diesel offering and a more powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine making approximately 250 horsepower. The Verano is expected to be unveiled in China in 2015, launching later that year as a 2016 model.
