When the new Buick Verano debuts this fall, word has it that it will be receiving a nice surprise under the hood. Some inside sources are indicating the new compact will borrow the Regal GS's 2.0T engine that will be detuned to produce a very comfortable output of 250hp and hit the 0-60 mph mark in around 6.5 seconds. We know the Verano will be offered with a standard 177-hp 2.4-liter direct injection four-cylinder, but the inclusion of a possible Turbo model sounds almost too perfect.
These same sources also claim that 17-inch wheels will be standard along with a six-speed automatic. Nothing has been said about a possible six-speed manual option. Regardless, Buick is clearly continuing to aim towards a younger customer base and away from its old grandfather image.
