GM's EV revolution is in full swing. So far, we've seen the production-spec GMC Hummer EV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500 EV, and the Cadillac Lyriq. And very soon it'll be Buick's turn. The premium brand has just announced on social media it will be unveiling its first EV concept this summer. Buick isn't saying anything else about it but we highly suspect it'll be a crossover, just like the rest of its current lineup. Based on what we can see from this single image, there's a sleek-looking front LED headlight and, if you look super closely, a nicely curved hood. And, well… that's about it for now.

Despite the lack of more details, we're very confident to say the new concept, which will surely evolve into a production model, will ride on GM's Ultium platform, the very same dedicated EV architecture underpinning the aforementioned models.

What's nice about Ultium is its flexibility. For the Silverado EV, engineers stretched the platform and made it more narrow compared to the Hummer. It was further reduced in size for the Lyriq. Chances are, Buick's new EV concept will be around the size of the Lyriq; it's not like Buick has ever produced trucks or serious off-roaders.

EV crossovers might just be the hottest upcoming segment with new arrivals like the VW ID.4, Nissan Ariya, Lexus RZ, Audi Q4 e-tron, and, of course, the Tesla Model Y. Eventually, Buick's entire lineup will be fully electrified, as per GM's 2035 goal to ditch combustion-engined vehicles entirely.

We wish Buick would have been a little more specific regarding the new concept's reveal date, but we should learn more as we get closer to summertime. Buick has found itself with its latest styling language and the new EV will almost certainly help take this to the next level.

What could the EV be called? If we had one guess, it'd be Electra. Last December, we reported that the Electra nameplate had been registered with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. The Electra already appeared as a concept vehicle back in 2020, so we're unsure if the name will be used for a second concept. It could, however, makes it way onto a production model.
